Weddings
You’re engaged? Congratulations!
We believe that God wants all couples to enjoy a long and happy life together. Many couples get married in church because it’s important for them to ask for God’s blessing on their married life. We count it a privilege to share the joy of your big day and we want to do all we can to help you get ready for it.
The law of the land has strict criteria as to where a couple may get married. These criteria were reviewed in October 2008 and a brief summary of the current legislation can be found here
Each year we run a Marriage Preparation Course in partnership with other churches in the area. The course consists of five evenings, spread over a two month period. We warmly recommend that you sign up as it will go a long way to putting down solid foundations for your future life together.
The Church of England has a Wedding Website with lots of useful information about church weddings including planning the ceremony, the legal aspects, cost saving tips, a countdown checklist and much more.
If you would like to contact All Saints about your forthcoming wedding, please email office.allsaints@gmail.com

From 1 October 2008, engaged couples may be married in a parish church of their choice if just one of the following criteria applies:
- either of them was baptised or prepared for confirmation in the parish
- either of them has ever lived in the parish for six months or more
- either of them has at any time regularly attended public worship in the parish for six months or more
- either of their parents has lived in the parish for six months or more in their child’s lifetime
- either of their parents has regularly attended public worship there for six months or more in their child’s lifetime
- either their parents or their grandparents were married in the parish
If none of these criteria applies then the couple may not lawfully be married in the parish.
