Want to know more about holding a Baptism, Funeral or Wedding at All Saints’ Church in Eaglescliffe? Read on…
Baptisms
Congratulations on the birth of your son or daughter. What a wonderful blessing children are and what an incredible thing to become a parent. It’s very natural to want to give thanks to God for one of the greatest gifts He has ever given you, and to ask for His blessing on your child and your family.
We would be delighted to discuss the possibilities of a service for your child.
Please read this leaflet, which will help you decide what sort of service you would like.

Funerals
We are sorry if you have recently suffered the loss of a loved one. Bereavement is obviously a painful time.
A Funeral Director will help you with the legal formalities and will make arrangements on your behalf to organise the funeral. For your convenience we have listed below some local ones who we know and have worked with often in the past, though you can of course choose any Funeral Director you wish. Usually, the Funeral Director will liaise with one of our ministers to agree a date and time for the funeral. Once we are aware of the details we will arrange to pay you a visit in order to meet you and plan the ceremony.
If you would like to contact a minister personally, or if you would like to speak to a member of our Pastoral Care Team please contact the Church Office on 01642 783814 – or you can click here to email us.

Weddings
You’re engaged? Congratulations!
We believe that God wants all couples to enjoy a long and happy life together. Many couples get married in church because it’s important for them to ask for God’s blessing on their new married life. We count it a great honour to share the joy of your big day.
To be married at a church, a couple must have a link to that place either:
- if either the bride or groom were baptised or prepared for confirmation in the parish
- if either the bride or groom has ever lived in the parish for six months or more
- if either the bride or groom has at any time regularly attended public worship in the parish for six months or more
- if either of the bride or groom’s parents has lived in the parish for six months or more in their child’s lifetime
- if either of the bride or groom’s parents has regularly attended public worship there for six months or more in their child’s lifetime
- if either of the bride or groom’s parents or grandparents were married in the parish
If none of these criteria applies then unfortunately the couple may not lawfully be married in the parish.
Before the service the minister will meet you to help you prepare for your marriage. Couples tell is these sessions are often invaluable and a lot of fun.
The Church of England has a Wedding Website with lots of useful information about church weddings including planning the ceremony, the legal aspects, cost saving tips, a countdown check list and much more.
